I'm so grateful for my week off. It helped me put things into perspective which made this week easier. I also had another break-through this week: I realized I've been dieting the last month or so.
And, I don't diet. I don't do things that have the word "die" in them.
The reason I've always supported and endorsed Weight Watchers is because it encourages healthy behaviors and life-style changes. You don't have to buy their food or eat foods you don't like and you are encouraged to eat a piece of cake once and awhile! There aren't any fasts or soups or shakes. Just real food in appropriate sizes.
Up until about a month ago, I'd always followed a general 80/20 rule with my food: 80 percent of it needs to be healthful, and the other 20 can be junk. This always made the plan livable for me. I'm not sure why I stopped doing it and started the whole "all or nothing" thinking, but I did and I firmly believe you can't live in a all or nothing situation.
Which is why I took my week off and inevitably binged.
Saturday I was all about getting right back on track and eating really clean, and blah, blah, blah. Then I was invited to a friend's birthday party that evening and I freaked out because I wanted to go, but I didn't want to consume any food/beer while there...
Light bulb moment. This is when I realized I was dieting.
I quickly fixed that!
I went to the party, I drank a few beers, and I munched on some Bugles. No biggie. I tracked them and moved on. In fact, this week I consumed pizza, some Thin Mints, a regular soda, hot chocolate with marshmallows, a cinnamon roll, a little fast food, a mini blizzard, and deep-fried french fries.
But, I also made sure that each day I ate 5 servings of fruits and veggies, 2 servings of milk, 2 servings of protein, some healthy oil, took my vitamins, and drank all my water. Which easily made up 80 percent of my food and beverages. I was never hungry and was usually full. I also made sure I exercised 5 out of 7 days and earned 44 Activity Points (and I ate 16 of them).
The result? I lost 1.2 pounds from my weight two weeks ago (probably more if you assume I was up last week). Not bad considering I wasn't dieting! Healthful living and balanced choices have helped me lose 80.2 pounds in a little over two years and will probably be what gets me through the last 6.2.
