Quarter One - 2011 Accomplishments (finally)

Well, I promised that I would let you know my other accomplishments for the first quarter, so here they are:

For those of you who don't understand free associating doodles, here's a quick translation:
  1. I've saved almost 3/5 of "The Big City Move" money
  2. After making excuses for the last 3 years, I finally bought myself a film camera
  3. I planned and went on a trip (every other trip I've taken, someone else has planned)
  4. I've become more conscious of of the words coming out of my mouth
  5. I'm blogging/writing!  I went from 7 posts in 2010, to 48 so far this year (readership is up too)
  6. I'm drawing and painting more (see silly sketch above)
  7. I had my sketchbook in a show in Brooklyn, NY
  8. I started teaching myself html and basic Internet coding
Not too bad for someone who isn't employed, huh?  But, since I like to have goals to work towards, here is where I want to go in Quarter 2:
  1. Keep saving money and sell some more things I don't want to move
  2. Use the Holga camera and learn to develop the film myself
  3. Continue blogging!  And move blog to my new Wordpress account as soon as I'm ready (I'll let you all know)
  4. Take the Altered Book class at the Pearson Lakes Art Center in July
  5. Continue learning html and design my first website (eek!)
  6. Make a miniature environment (dollhouse) for the Iowa State Fair
  7. Enter some photos into the Iowa State Fair and Clay County Fair
  8. Create my marketing/logo/look for PaisleyJax Design.
  9. Read 3 Non-fiction books and 6 fiction books.
So, there you go!  A lot of my goals have to do with pursuing and re-connecting with my creativity and art.   This is both for personal development, but also so I can have a few more things to put on my resume :)  Do any of you have goals for the next three months?

Also, I'd like to take a minute to say "thank you" to each of you.  The last few months have been kind of a bummer, but this blog has kept me sane.  I didn't realize when I started writing that I'd have so much support and reconnect with some old friends through it.  Your comments on here, Facebook, and through Twitter have been so wonderful the last couple of weeks and I'm so grateful for each of you.

Thank you, thank you, thank you.

  1. I've been contemplating a move to wordpress too. I like some of their features better. We'll see if I ever do it though.
